NEHRU YUVA KENDRA - GUNTUR
This Kendra was stablished in the year 1976, NYK Guntur has completed 36 years of its service in the District in youth work among rural youth with a net work of nearly 1450 democratic units at its roots called youth clubs and Mahila mandals in the 57 mandals- 21 blocks
During the years, NYK Guntur has rendered services in
as per the guidelines of NYKS ,under the able guidence and leadership of the District Collector and Advisory committee members & under the directions of the zonal director. It has also promoted firist of its kind in the nation RED RIBBON clubs at NAMBUR to motivate youth to fight against HIV/AIDS and taken up the programme Youth Participation in prevention of trafficking and AIDS (YPPTA). The youth moment is kept active by the present youth co-ordinator by promoting 905 youth clubs since 2004.
NATIONAL YOUTH POLICY INTERVENTION STRATEGIES FOR
SUSTAINABLE YOUTH EMPOWERMENT
It’s a global phenomenon that youth stands for vitality, creativity, novelty and constructive nature and who constitute majority our nation and they become vital for human resource utility and for the upholding of human values and national values as well.
The pride and future hope of Nation is its youth who are again its insurance against any eventuality of national importance. Hence, youth force becomes the focal point for rationalizing and streamlining the youth potential for creative and constructive activity in achieving the ultimate well-being of the Human race.
A nation that fails to have galvanized and streamlined the youth potential for constructive and productive purposes, it is sure to lag behind, so much so the neglected youth of a country is sure to become its liability, unless their interest, talents, aptitude and attitudes are molded to creative and constructive purpose in an integrated approach.
CONCEPT OF EMPOWERMENT :
The movement we visualize empowering youth, the thought itself emancipates helplessness, ignorance, cult of silence, diffidence, social dichotomy, cultural isolation, political deviation, which need to be fought out by youth themselves through a participatory approach with personal involvement in understanding its concept, percept and practice.
Power of empowering youth involves self-help through self-realization as the rightful citizen of our country on democratic lines and transforming himself towards self-sufficiency for self-reliance, guided by organizational basics, managerial tenets, and self-help pursuits to come out of the shell of helplessness dependence and to no compromise of convictions of democratic values and make them emerge the real leaders of hard work honesty with patriotism.
The attitudinal transformation towards “ Life Values” will change their outlook that they are equal citizens, no more a dependent but independent and leads to feeling of equality and responsible and foster social brotherhood, national spirit and build up moral courage, confidence and determination in fighting against civic literacy.
The above outlook in youth will enhance self respect and belongingness latent within, the youth who are self-awarded, confident, determined, disciplined, clear in his vision is empowered and attains internal freedom and upholds intrinsic values and energies.
This paradigm shift from ignorance to self-enlightment will promote sustained approach in life of every youth.
Participatory Approach: This approach demands the implementer:
Thereby creating in them the needed preparedness or the “will” to avail of the given opportunity and it is sure to make a beginning of awareness for a constructive action. As it is hardly possible to sow a seed or transplant a sapling without proper inter-culture, so also the lay youth has got to have a thoroughly probe into his own socio-economic situation in which he has to thrive and strive for his betterment equality and dignity basing on his inherent capacities.
INTERVENTION POINTS :
Integrated human approach will enable the implementer to understand the pulse of the partner and his unarticulated needs-problems-dreams- which are tied up with social, economical, cultural, psychological and educational backgrounds. Though they are uneducated, they are not un-intelligent, ignorant, they are not unaware, obedient, they are not subservient to slavery, un-organized, they are not un-united and helpless and they are not void of self-respect and self-confidence to come out of the squally socio-economic and politico-administrative oppressive situation, provided they are given new drive, direction and purpose in the process of evolving a new system involving them as the basic participants yet eliminating or dissipating the age old system of suppression and deprivation.
This self-realization will make the “Partner” to match his needs with the objectives of the scheme, loan, aid, grant and are the opportunity to optimum level with substance and empower his intrinsic energies to better his/he life.
